APRIL 2011 BROWNBAG: uPlan: Building Partnerships through Collaboration
At the first WTS Northern Utah Chapter’s brown bag lunch of 2011, more than 50 WTS members gathered at the UDOT complex to learn more about a statewide transportation planning tool from UDOT Planning Director, John Thomas.
You’ve probably heard of the GIS web-based application UPlan or had the opportunity to explore its many capabilities and vast amount of information it houses. The idea of UPlan started more than 4 years ago as a way for UDOT to analyze information from the various agencies involved in planning Utah’s transportation future. UPlan has proven to be a useful tool for transportation planners statewide to analyze a variety of information on potential new projects, and to synchronize new projects with existing projects.
